Ahan Aroi! Delicious food of Thailand.

One of the first Thai phrases that we learned was “Ahan Aroi”, or “Delicious food.”  Given that we eat Thai food every single day – breakfast, lunch, and dinner, this phrase has proved incredibly relevant.  Not to mention that each dish costs around 30 Baht (less than one dollar).  Below are some pictures and descriptions of the Thai dishes that make up our diet. Learning to cook them is definitely on the agenda of things to do while we are here, but for now we are simply enjoying them:

Pad Thai Gung (Shrimp) from one of our favorite restaurants in Chiang Saen.

One of our favorites: Pad see ew gai, with plenty of peppers on top for spice.

Standard condiments found on every restaurant table: Fish sauce, chili flakes, pickled peppers, and salt.

Breakfast from the canteen on campus: kao man gai - rice with chicken and a fried egg on top. Served with a bowl of soup.  Delicious way to start our day!

Vietnamese Pho

Suki, a noodle soup we can get from the canteen.
